While the rain fell outside today, the paint crew was working inside. The second coat of primer was done today for the drywall. They are anticipating that the block sealant and primer will be completed by Sunday. They will be hard at work over the weekend! That's dedication!! With that goal, they should be applying final coats of paint next week as well as beginning the flooring phase. The plumbing and HVAC is almost completed too. The exterior doors have been completed. This secures of our new school building and is now locked down. The doors will offer large amounts of light into our hallway and lobby areas. We're moving along!

Not too many people working today, but there were a few crew members installing doors onsite. Some work was finished on the roof as well. The architectural firm had a representative here today as well inspecting work and making sure that it was being done according to plans and quality that they expect. He was pleased with what he saw, which is a good sign!

Crews finished up the exterior block on the south wall along with the sandstone trim around the windows. More wiring was run to the new building while a few door frames were installed. The final concrete pad was poured outside the preschool room. Playground details are in the mix currently too. Keep in the loop in the coming weeks for the beginning of our raffle to raise money for the playground too! Sorry for the late post!

Crews were hard at work this week. Most of the exterior fascia split-face block was installed, giving the building a completed look. Concrete pads were also poured for the entrances to the school and the back of the kitchen. This was required for the door frames to be installed so that the building can be officially sealed properly. Inside, drywallers continued their work applying coats of mud and are almost completed. Electrical wiring was also being pulled inside as crews install the finishing rough-in touches. Painting and flooring are slotted to begin next week sometime and continue for a couple more weeks. Overall, there have been few glitches and now with warmer weather, progress will be continuing to more forward.

Facia block was delivered and the first row was laid today! Inside, they worked on finishing up drywall and sprayed cellulose insulation on the lobby wall. The kitchen is awaiting a few more details in terms of plumbing and then the finishing touches can be worked on. In the meantime, the kitchen will be closed off at all times until it is completed. Water lines have been installed connecting the new building to the water supply. Enjoy the updated photos!

The drywall crews made large amounts of progress Thursday and Friday. The kitchen was closed and I was unable to take any progress pictures inside. I do know that the doors to areas being worked on will remain closed for safety reasons. As soon as areas are safe for the general public, it will be announced and/or posted. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures!

As I sit here in the narthex working on school items, it's interesting to watch the activity going on here at the church and school. There is approximately 20-25 guys associated with 3-4 different companies working toward a common goal...build this school and complete the renovations. I look at the variety of pieces and parts that have to fall into place at the right time and how each company, having different areas of expertise, needs to work together as one unit. They make adjustments, accommodations for each other, coordinate schedules/plans, and help each other out when necessary. It reminds me as to how the church should work too. The church consists of a variety of people representing a variety of areas of expertise all working toward a common goal...to spread the Word of God! We need to make accommodations for each other, adjust or schedules/plans for each other, and help each other out when necessary too. To me, it is a good reminder that we are ONE church under ONE God. We may be asked to assist or partner with a different congregation with an event or service project and we should be ready to help wherever we are able. Our help may be in the form of hands on work, financial support, knowledge collaboration, but most importantly, it should always be in the form of prayer.
So in the spirit of prayer, take time today to say a quick prayer for the gentlemen working on our project today. Pray for their safety and for smooth working scenarios throughout this week and the duration of this project. Also pray for the campaign that is raising money to fund this expansion of God's work here in Reed City. I thank everyone for checking in from time to time on how this project is going and hopefully you've been inspired to work as one unit with someone else toward the same goal here in God's kingdom. To God Be the Glory!
